Just a reminder, this is due tomorrow (1 SEP 16)
Las comidas de los paices hispanohablantes: You will research the different foods of your adopted country. You will find a typical dish that interests you and bring a COLOR photo of the item to class on el primero de September (September 1st). You must include an information card which gives a brief description, in English, of the dish and also lists its ingredients. Be sure you also list the county’s name on the information card. Below is the format of your information card: El Plato_______________________ País:_________________________________________________________________________________ Descripción ________________________________________________________________________ Ingredients ________________________________________________________________________ Keep in mind that your information card is a card and not a sheet of paper. Feel free to use an index card to type or write by hand (in ink only) the above information. Begin practice preparing the dish because you will bring the actual food item to school on September 15th for the National Hispanic Heritage Month festival event in the library.

Tomorrow in class you must upload a picture of the cultural outfit you plan to wear when you do your country presentation in the library for Hispanic Heritage month.
You will do a mini blog about this picture in English (or Spanish if you choose). Begin by finding the picture on the internet, screen shot it and load it to the TRABAJOS section of your website. Then attach a button or hyper-link to the picture which leads striaht to the website where the actual picture can be found. Your blog title will be: Las ropas del mundo hispanohablantes In your photo description (blog) tell the name of the outfit, where it can be found, who wears it, and why you chose it. Be sure to make your post by the end of the day on the 19th. Any post made after that date will not be accepted. Email me if you have any problems. Feel free to ask your classmates for help as well. The second assignment is to create a vocabulary video dealing with the house. You will create this video the same way that you created the Spanish speaking countries video. The words that you will use are: la alfombra, el armario, la cama, la cómoda, las cortinas, el cuadro, el despertador, el dormitorio, el espejo, el estante, la lámpara, la mesita, la pared, el disco compacto, el equipo de sonido, el lector DVD, el televisor, el video, and videocasetera. This video must be uplaaded no later than mid-night on Sunday, August 21st. Once again, email me if you have any questions. Use the following video to help you learn how to properly pronounce the names of the Spanish speaking countries and their capitals. Use this video as a sample for your Spanish speaking countries vocabulary video. Remember, you must include both the capital and country name in your video in Spanish. This sample video only lists the names of the countries. You will give a presentation in class about your country. Your presentation will be given 90% in Spanish. However, the part about the legend may be told in English. Once you are called on to present, you will stick your flag, map and note card on the boar using the magnets provided. You will then walk over to the podium and begin your presentation. You will not be allowed to read your presentation to the class. You will not be permitted to hold anything during your presentation. However, an outline will be taped to the podium to aide you just in case you forget what you want to say. Your presentation should follow the following format: 1. Greeting ( hola, hola clase, hola todos, hola buenos días, hola buenas tardes, etc. ) 2. Introduce yourself ( Me llamo, mi nombre es, soy, etc.) 3. State the country you are about to give a presentation on. 4. State the capital and where the country is located ( América del norte, América central, América del sur, el Caribe, Eropa, or África). 5. State the colors of the flag. Remember that the word for flag in Spanish is feminine so your colors must be written in the feminine form (if applicable). 6. Next you will discuss your map. While pointing at your map, tell the class what country your map is displaying. 7.. State the neighboring countries (los vecinos son....) If there is only one neighboring country, use ' el vecino es..." if there is no neighboring country, use "no hay vecinos." 8. Then introduce the legend from your country. 9. Give an overvue of the legend. This may be done in English if you like. 10. Using your Spanish, ask if there are any questions. 11. Thank the class and then return to your seat. Below is a script for those who need a little help with tomorrow's oral presentation. ¡Hola! Soy __________________ y me gustaría dar un informe sobre __________________. La capital es _____________________ y está en __________________________. La bandera es ___________________. Aquí es el mapa de __________________________. Los vecinos son ____________________________. _____________________________ tiene una leyenda interesante. La leyenda se llama ___________________________________. ( Now began telling your legend ). ¿Hay Preguntas? Gracias. Example: ¡Hola! Soy Meckaela Sellars y me gustaría dar un informe sobre los Estados Unidos. La capital is Washington D.C. y está en américa del norte. La bandera es roja, blanca, y azul. Aquí es el mapa de los estados unidos. Los vecinos son Canada y Mexico. He fought against Mexican General Adrian Woll's invasion of Texas in 1842, then he volunteered for the retaliatory raid across the Rio Grande. When the raid ended, he joined the Mier Expedition organized to penetrate further into Mexico. Got himself into a mess of trouble then. The Texans in the expedition were surrounded and captured by a force ten times their size. They managed to escape a short while later, but were rounded up in the desert and Santa Ana ordered a decimation of the escaped prisoners ........ ¿Hay preguntas? ¡Gracias! Remember that your presentation needs to be no longer than 2 minutes.
